  • Team: Ruby's End of Year Work

Our talented Part 1 Ruby is finishing up her first year of master’s at the LSA—and we couldn’t be more impressed with the work she’s produced. Her project places neurodiversity at the core of design, embracing the unique ways neurodivergent individuals perceive and interact with the world. It prioritises the inhabitants’ varying sensory input, allowing users control over their environments through a “choose your own adventure” approach to provide spaces of different stimulations. As well as consideration of routine and predictability, with architecture shaped around users’ daily rhythms and spaces defined by activity rather than convention. The design also fosters self-expression and creativity, encouraging “unmasking”, challenging the pressure many neurodivergent individuals face to conform to neurotypical norms. We look forward to supporting her as she continues her Part 2 training next year. Back to News

  • Studio: UKREIIF

Our Director Paul Ruff was at UKREIIF last month, joining the conversation at “6000 Reasons to Build: What Supporters Really Think” - held at the beautiful Asian and African Gallery in Leeds. It was a great opportunity to connect with people across the industry and dig into why there’s such a strong push for construction right now. The panel explored what drives supporters of development, how we can build more sustainably and equitably, and the real reasons behind the numbers. Always inspiring to hear different perspectives and be part of shaping a better-built environment. Back to News

  • Project: Long Meadow Farm

Delighted to share that our retrofit and extension of a rural Devon farmstead has received planning approval. This project is rooted in a fabric-first approach - retaining and celebrating as much of the existing structure as possible, while sensitively adapting the form to enhance spatial quality with vaulted ceilings and new timber and Devonian stone clad elements that sit gently within the landscape. Passive design strategies have informed every move: orientation and natural terraces work in harmony to optimise solar gain, while deep reveals and carefully placed shading balance light and thermal comfort.
