- Studio: Cundall Breakfast Briefings
A huge thank you to Cundall for hosting another great talk as part of their Breakfast Briefings series! Our team enjoyed going over to St Paul's Cathedral last week to keep up our learning in the net zero carbon space. There were a whole range of takeaways that stuck with us, such as the advantages of cataloguing existing building fabrics for re-use. Jade, senior architect at RUFF, was particularly attracted to the concept of a materials index: "I love the idea of a materials broker. Someone who connects unwanted materials from projects to other projects that are looking to procure them...perfection can sometimes be the enemy of the project and that improvement should be the overall target." It's so important that designers stay active in these conversations and RUFFARCHITECTS are proud to be taking the steps to do so. Back to News

- Studio: Team Social
We had a great time at Flight Club brushing up on our darts skills! The team took a well-deserved break as we spent the evening chatting, eating pizza and engaging in some good old (not so friendly) competition. Jade wiped the floor as she topped the leader board round after round leaving everyone in the dust! Suspiciously skilled for someone who claimed to be an amateur... Teamwork on point and darts on target! Back to News
- Studio: Japan House
As creatives, taking inspiration from art around us keeps our work inspired. We loved the carpentry exhibition at Japan House, displaying beautiful timber details and joinery. The workmanship on show was an important reminder that craft matters! Care and patience can shape space, and our designers work tirelessly to bring the same level of skill to all we do. Back to News
- Project: Well House Material Palette
At the heart of our design philosophy for this project lies a profound appreciation for natural materials and colours. Our design palette is carefully curated to reflect this ethos, featuring a range of natural textures and hues that bring the beauty of the outdoors inside. The use of natural materials, such as larch sourced from woodland 10 miles away and limestone from the 13th Century quarry within the grounds of the property, is central to our approach. These materials not only provide a timeless and elegant look but also offer durability and sustainability. Larch, with its rich grains and warm tones, adds a sense of softness and natural beauty to interior spaces. The limestone, in its various forms, lends strength and a connection to the earth, creating striking features in both interior and exterior applications. To add a touch of vibrancy and modernity, we have introduced accents of complimentary pink, taken from the historical colour palette of estate workers homes. This subtle hint of colour provides the perfect compliment, adding an element of interest without overwhelming the natural tones balanced with an abundance of green planting.
